Native butterflies flutter among hundreds of flowers, and birds fly above as you walk through the enchanting Cypress Gardens Butterfly House. The Butterfly House opened in the fall of 1997, and was the first to open year-round in South Carolina. The 2,500 square foot building features various species of butterflies, turtles and birds. There are several information signs to help visitors identify the butterflies, caterpillars and host plants. The secret to visiting the Butterfly House is to stay quiet and linger for a moment. The quieter you are, the more you will see.
